Discarded Pitch
While I was deciding which exhibition review to write I was deciding between two, this is the one that got discarded, but I thought I'd leave it here in case anyone has seen the “The Performance of Shadows” at Hart House and had any thoughts about it! How does one materialize the untouchable, unseeable and unimaginable? “The Performance of Shadows,”' at the Hart House Art Museum, showcases the works of Betye Saar, Tim Whiten, and Erika DeFreita as they grapple with their own intuition on exploring spirituality, consciousness, and ephemerality. This compilation of works was able to evoke deep inner feelings, allowing my own senses to be engaged in the works, helping to explore the ideas that don’t have a physical manifestation. This exhibition is timely, as we are in a world where we are constantly fed quick images, quick answers, and quick bites of information. “The Performance of Shadows,” feels meditative, requiring viewers to slow down and sink into their own feelin...
